FR : Nicolas Graux (Belgique, 1988) s’intéresse, à travers son cinéma, aux vies en marge et aux enjeux sociaux et politiques. Son regard patient et poétique oscille entre documentaire et fiction. Diplômé de l’Institut des Arts de Diffusion (IAD) en Belgique, il a cofondé la société de production Replica. Son premier long métrage, Century of Smoke (2019), un portrait d’une communauté laotienne dépendante à l’opium, a été présenté en première mondiale à Visions du Réel en Suisse, puis sélectionné dans de nombreux festivals internationaux, dont São Paulo, Munich et Cartagena. Depuis 2020, il collabore, par-delà les frontières et les formes, avec le cinéaste vietnamien Trương Minh Quý. Ensemble, ils ont réalisé Tóc, Giấy và Nước… [Hair, Paper, Water…] (2025), un documentaire sensoriel et poétique présenté en première mondiale au Festival de Locarno, où il a remporté, entre autres, le Léopard d’Or dans la compétition Filmmakers of the Present.

With a poetic and sensitive eye, he works at the intersection of documentary and fiction. He graduated from the Belgian IAD (Institut des Arts de Diffusion) and co-founded the production company Replica. His debut feature, Century of Smoke (2019), a portrait of a Laotian family struggling with opium addiction, premiered at Visions du Réel in Switzerland and screened at international festivals in São Paulo, Munich, and Cartagena. Since 2020, he has collaborated across borders and forms with Vietnamese filmmaker Trương Minh Quý. They co-directed Tóc, Giấy và Nước… [Hair, Paper, Water…] (2025), a sensorial and poetic documentary that premiered at the Locarno Film Festival, where it won, among other prizes, the Golden Leopard in the Filmmakers of the Present competition.
